Topical Tuesday #75 - Lil Monster in (Prisma) Colour

Hello and welcome to this weeks Topical Tuesday!  This week it's 2 hours earlier than usual, and for a very good reason!!  At 8.00pm tonight we start 3 days of Sneak Peeks in the lead up to our release this Friday night!  We are very excited because we have three new sets to share, so we hope you can join us!

This week I needed to be very organised because not only is Friday our release but also Nathan's birthday, so I hope you'll forgive me for yet another colouring TT, but he loves this stamp (nearly as much as I do) and he loves green, so here we go!

Here's the card to begin with and then below I have a video just showing a bit of the colouring process using Prismacolor Pencils and a Blender pencil to blend.  You'll see in the video that I added in a highlight of yellow, but then when I came to finish my card I decided on a non-yellow orange so I did the balloon again and fussy cut it before adhering with dimensional foam.  The shirt I went over with white and added in an extra crease :)

The base card was swiped with DI Ripe Persimmon and the centre base I simply stamped the ink pads directly on my paper randomly, adding in the number 10 to finish!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again in just a little while!

Hugs for now,

Andrea

Topical Tuesdays - Mixed Media Journal

Hi there! It's Tobi here from Tobi's Place with my first Topical Tuesday post.

Recently I've become infatuated with mixed media and specifically "art journaling" and today I am sharing with you how I go about incorporating stamps into my designs. This is my Dylusions Journal that I have put off decorating on the outside because I didn't want to commit... Well today is the day! I'll take you step-by-step through the process!!

Here it is plain:

  1. Cover the area with Gesso:

2.   Apply paint or colour of your choice through a stencil. I used Gelatos and applied them with my finger:

3.    Stamp images of your choice in Archival ink. (I used stamps from Daisy Delight):

4.   Add shading with a Stabilo pencil. (In case you don't know, a Stabilo pencil is an acrylic material, so it works really well on acrylic paints! Just smudge with your finger or you can wet it too...):

5.   Add colours to the flowers with watercolour crayons or gelatos. Smudge with fingers:

6.   Add colour to the background with PanPastels:

7.   Outline the stamped images in white pen. This step was the essential "finishing touch" that the flowers needed because none of them stamped perfectly (the surface was really bumpy) and after all of the smudging with my fingers the colours didn't "pop."

8.   The decoration is complete:

Now all it needs is a title:

Thanks for joining me today and I hope you enjoyed this peek into my process!!

Topical Tuesdays - Versamark and Chalk...

Hi it's Donna here from Donna's Diary. Today I am going to show one of the very first techniques I learned when I first started scrapbooking/cardmaking which is about 15 years ago {now I'm starting to show my age!}. It's really easy and dare I say it? A cheap technique... And it's so handy if you want to make a quick card and get a different effect without pulling out embossing powders etc...

Versamark and Chalk!

All you need is four things to start you off... 1. Chalk {of course} you can usually get craft chalk at you local scrapbooking store or just Google craft chalk, 2. A Versamark stamp pad, 3. Some sort of applicators/ cotton balls to apply the chalk, I have chosen, believe it or not, make-up pads for this card. 4. Some awesome stamps to work with... Today I have chosen Annabelle Stamps "Garden Silhouettes".

1. On white or very light cardstock stamp the image with your Versamark ink pad.
2. Then choose a colour from the chalks and gently rub the colour onto your applicator/ cotton ball or in my case make-up pad and the rub the colour onto the image...
3. Stamp another image onto the first, make sure you have clean stamps.
4. Then repeat the process with another colour.

 5. This is the fun bit where you can blend your colours together.

6. As you can see I have used two different colour green's and two different colour blues. I made this tag in under 8 minutes...Yes, I did time myself! It's also wise to spray your finished product with some sort of fixed spray...

And this is my finished card with my Versamark/Chalk tag....

I would really love to see what you guys come up with using this technique, there are so many way you can use it...

Donna
