Topical Tuesdays - Gelatos

Hi everyone, it's Tobi Crawford here with some more fun with mixed media products! Last time I showed you how to work a little bit with your art journal, and today I will share a page I've done to help get you inspired to play a little!

I started out by covering the pages with gesso. There was a bit of paint drippings on the left side and I wanted to make sure that they were mostly hidden before I added the gelatos... Also, the gesso helps to protect the paper from watery substances which I'll use later!

I started by scribbling a few different green colours onto the paper that will eventually be the ground.

If you've never used Gelatos, then you need not worry. They are a cinch to use! There are a lot of ways to blend them but my favourite method is baby-wipes!! Simply wipe a moist baby-wipe horizontally across the colours and gradually work your way down. It's very evident when the colours are blended versus not..

Once the "ground" was blended I added some colours for the sky. For this section I worked from the bottom of the sky up to the top.

Once I blended the sky I added some black on the horizon and blended it with my finger. (PS... do you notice my container for some of my Gelatos and watercolour crayons? It's a container for Copic originals.. They fit perfectly!)

Now for some stamping! I added some beautiful butterflies from Butterfly Sunshine in Archival ink. I just love silhouetted images. They are so powerful!

Once I added some journaling I stamped some circles from Splat Attack and dusted some Panpastels on them to pop them up.

Topical Tuesdays - Favorite Prismacolor Combinations.

Hello, it's Donna here for this week's Topical Tuesday.. I know that many of you use Copics as your favourite medium to colour with, but I have always loved the texture that pencils give me and today I thought I would share with you some of my favorite blending combinations when I colour with my Prisma pencils.

I have found Prismacolor pencils to be the best when it comes to blending, not only are they soft and lovely to use, the colour range is massive. I don't actually use anything to blend my pencils together. I know lots of people use baby oil and other stuff and you can buy a Prismacolor colourless blender pencil for adding fine lines, like individual hairs or perhaps to highlight here or there. I, personally have never found it necessary but you might like to do it that way...

The first combination I would like to share with you is in the Blue Range...

Here I have used PC1024 - Slate Blue to start with, then PC1025 - Periwinkle and then PC901 - Indigo Blue. As you can see, I start with the lightest colour first and then finding where the shadow is going to be on the image I gradually get darker.

The next combination is in the Green Range.

Here I have used PC1005 - Limepeel, PC1090 - Olive Green and PC908 - Dark Green. And again I have started from light to dark.

The next combination is from the Yellow Range.

Here I have used 4 different pencils to get the affect that I am happy with. PC1012 - Jasmin, PC1002 - Yellowed Orange, PC1032 - Pumpkin Orange and believe or not PC922 - Poppy Red.

The last combination is in the Red Range.

Red is actually really hard to get right in pencils and I find that I need all of the reds plus black to get the affect that I am after. Here I have used PC922 - Poppy Red, PC924 - Crimson Red, PC925 - Crimson Lake and lastly PC935 - Black.

I have used one of the gorgeous Poppy images from the Remember When stamps set.... I hope this helps you when you are next thinking about colouring with your pencils.

Blog Hop - August Release!

Hello all!  We are very excited to share with you four brand new sets!  These sets are a little different to what has come before and that is because these are pink!  Yes you heard me, pink!  The new sets are made of deeply etched pink rubber, are mounted on quality EzyMount™, precut AND come on a printed laminated storage sheet!!!  How cool is that!?!

So would you like to see our newest additions??  Let's take a look :)

This sets images were illustrated by Kristy who I introduced to you last month!  I fell in love with this clock when I saw it on her blog, and the keys just looked as though they should go together!  I think this is a perfect set for our masculine cards!  It is approx. a 6" x 4" set if I was to compare it to the clear sets, but just a little larger.

This new Backgrounds By Design addition is approx. a 6" x 8" set but a little larger than it's clear cousin.  It was designed by me and the three longer images on the left are about 150mm so fit the long side of our standard card size here in Australia!  The larger cling sets will come on a laminated panel that has pre-cut holes to go in....well the binders you'll find below!

This set is calling for bright colours or pastels, and I think could work for so many occasions!  It is approx. 6" x 4" and has four varying sized butterflies and some beautiful sentiments :)

Another super sized set Splat Attack is ready for fun!  I created this one with my DH in mind when I added the paint brush (he's a painter lol!) - and no, not an artist kind of painter, my study couldn't fit the both of us!

Finally we also have the binders that can store the larger sheets, but if you were wanting to add the smaller a hole punch would do the trick!  These binders close securely and have a clear panel so you can add a sheet with the details of what's inside!  They comfortably hold four rubber sets!!

Mini Binders

If you love the whole collection of new sets and would simply love to have them all then we have a deal for you!  Follow the link HERE to the bundle package and you will save 20%!!  Not only that but the bundle qualifies for FREE shipping!

Now it's time to hop!  If you'd like to play along then start at my blog HERE and follow your way around leaving a comment as you go.  Two names will be drawn with the first winning the first two sets above and the second winning the next two.  You have until Sunday night at 8.00pm AEST!!!

Hugs for now,

Andrea
